Hertfordshire Safety Camera Partnership is to provide drivers with direct online access to information from safety cameras.
The 'Public Access' service allows individuals who receive a penalty notice to view the evidence relating to their penalty free of charge.
The system was developed by Northgate Information Solutions and allows authorised and secure access for drivers to view photographs of their vehicle, site maps and camera calibration certificates relating to their offence.
"This new online service will ensure that drivers with internet access can exercise their right to information quickly and at any time," said Claire Hall, partnership communications manager at Hertfordshire Safety Camera Partnership.
"The selection of this system demonstrates the Partnership's commitment to honesty, openness and accountability."
The system is also designed to help staff handle driver enquiries more efficiently, using a single information access point and an electronic document management system.
Ian Blackhurst, managing director of criminal justice and public safety at Northgate Information Solutions, said: "Safety cameras are just one part of an effective road safety strategy.
"It is essential that we build trust through reassuring the public that enforcement action is fair and transparent."
Once someone receives a Notice of Intended Prosecution and confirm that they were the driver of the vehicle at the time, they will be provided with details to log into the site to access all the evidence relating to the case.
