Private equity bosses face Treasury grilling

Five leading private equity executives to stand before Treasury select committee for the first time

Written by Nicholas Neveling

The Treasury select committee is to question five top private equity executives on June 20 as part of an inquiry into the industry.

The hearing will be held publically, and will mark the first time that senior private equity leaders have had to answer to politicians, the FT reports.

David Buffini, managing partner of Permira, Dominic Murphy of KKR , 3i's Philip Yea, Blackstone's David Blitzer and Robert Easton from Carlyle will all attend the hearing.

The Treasury select committee, led by John McFall, are expected to take a robust approach when questioning the private equity heads. The tax regime and the large amounts of debt used to finance deals are all expected to crop up as topics.
