64GB SSD for Area-51 m9750 notebook

Written by Clement James

Dell's Alienware high performance gaming unit has introduced a 64GB solid state drive (SSD) for its Area-51 m9750 notebook.

Alienware claims that the Area-51 m9750 is now the industry's first system to offer a dual 64GB SSD Raid 0 configuration and a dual drive configuration combining a 64GB SSD and a 200GB 7,200 RPM hard drive.

Users can also opt for a single 64GB SSD configuration.

"After being first to market with a dual 32GB Raid 0 SSD configuration, Alienware has achieved another milestone in mobile storage by being the first to deliver a dual 64GB SSD Raid 0 configuration and the first to combine a single 64GB SSD with a second larger capacity hard drive," said Bryan de Zayas, associate director of product marketing at Alienware.

The company claims that the SSD increases performance by speeding up boot and load times over standard hard drives.

With no moving parts, the durable 64GB SSD can withstand rough transit conditions, perfect for on-the-go users who rely heavily on stored data. The SSD also consumes less power to optimise battery life.
