HP ProCurve launches enterprise edge switches

HP has today launched a new range of enterprise edge switches

Written by Dave Bailey

HP ProCurve today launched a new range of enterprise edge switches, the 2610 series. There are five switches in the series, all giving 10/100Mbit/s speeds, with gigabit connectivity provided by two 1000BASE-T ports and two gigabit mini-gigabit interface converters (GBICs).

The 2610-24 and 2610-48 are the non-Power over Ethernet (PoE) versions, and the 2610-24 is fanless. The PoE versions are the 2610-24-PWR and 2610-48-PWR, both providing PoE to the IEEE 802.3af standard, giving around 15 watts per port. There is also a ‘hybrid’ 2610-24/12PWR version which can provide PoE on 12 of the available ports.

All have multicast traffic control, and also support for pre-standard legacy PoE equipment. Security is provided through access control lists (ACLs) and all switches are sFlow enabled, allowing traffic sampling and integration with ProCurve’s Network Immunity Manager.

All are available now, pricing for the 2610-24 and 48 is €439 and €799 respectively, whilst the PoE versions, cost €999 and €1,899 respectively. The hybrid 2610-24/12PWR costs €669.
