Ultraspeed launches high volume hosting service

New platform can cope with up to 100,000 simultaneous connections

Written by Phil Muncaster

Managed hosting provider Ultraspeed has launched a new platform designed specifically for firms which need to accomodate high volumes of traffic for short periods of time on their sites.

Ultraspeed Infected is based on the firm's 100 per cent guaranteed uptime technology which can handle up to 100,000 simultaneous connections and peak data rates up to 2GB per second, according to the firm.

It could be of particular use to firms wanting to run online marketing or sales campaigns which typically last for a short period of time and if successful can generate high volumes of traffic, according to Ultraspeed's managing director Jordan Gross.

"We started off by building individual platforms for our customers which lasted for two to three months, and then tore them down,"he explained. "But it became obvious that we should construct a dedicated platform which enables high volume campaigns to be done relatively inexpensively."

Firms that have benefited from the service include London's Hoxton Hotel, which ran a £1 room campaign which attracted 280,000 hits in just 27 minutes.

"Just as you wouldn't construct a billboard campaign on a piece of cardboard you wouldn't base a high volume hosting campaign on a £10 a month package, as it's liable to fall over," argued Gross.
