Intelliden banks on more compliance problems

Network management vendor helps firms' compliance efforts

Written by Dave Bailey

Network management vendor Intelliden has updated its Policy Based Compliance Management (PBCM) suite.

PBCM 2.0 is a package designed to aid very large enterprises in managing their network policies for compliance purposes, while simultaneously resolving configuration-related network security issues in real time.

"With potentially hundreds of policies required to support thousands of network devices, it is virtually impossible to maintain network availability, security and reliability through antiquated manual network management processes and systems," said Intelliden president and CEO Alan Black.

A new feature of PBCM 2.0 is 'parameter management', which allows firms to manage large numbers of network devices with a much smaller number of policies. Intelliden said that this feature would "enable a single policy to validate similar configuration settings across multiple network devices."

Intelliden has also built more 'out-of-the-box' policies into its system, allowing firms to deploy PBCM quicker and has also increased scalability, allowing firms to "validate one million configurations per hour," it claimed..

PBCM 2.0 runs on Intelliden's R-Series platform, a software suite which runs on commodity hardware and integrates with other network management suites, such as EMC Smarts, BMC Remedy and HP OpenView.
