IT professionals can now perform root-cause analysis on the spot with new business intelligence (BI) software from the BI division of integration firm Tibco Software, Spotfire.
Tibco Spotfire Operations Analytics is designed to give users increased transparency into business processes. Especially aimed at businesses with large continuous streams of data, such as those in financial services and manufacturing, the software gives users an immediate indication of process performance through use of Six Sigma process control, said Roger Oberg, product strategy vice president for Tibco’s Spotfire division.
Oberg explained, “Ordinarily, all the data from processes is brought into a chart and then the operator studies how efficient a process is, but if something goes wrong, they cannot see what it is.”
However, he said, with the Operations Analytics software, users can lay rules over processes. “If the rules are violated, then a file is triggered and a snapshot is produced.”
Users will need to vary the rules according to the depth of information they want back, Oberg added. For example, if the user sets too stringent rules, the outcome will be an overload of information.
Tibco Spotfire calls this capability “event-driven, closed-loop analytics software”.
