O2 broadband aims at businesses

O2 has launched a new broadband service aimed at businesses and business users

Written by Dave Bailey

Mobile phone firm O2 has today launched a broadband service for businesses.

O2 Business Broadband is aimed at small businesses with a headline download speed of up to 20Mbit/s depending on how far customers are from a ‘Local Loop Unbundled (LLU)’ exchange. For customers outside the range of an O2 LLU exchange, O2 will provide BT’s 8Mbit/s wholesale service.

There are four packages available, Standard, Premium, Ultimate and Access. With the high end, Access package, O2 will provide a free wireless router that can use two SSIDs (normally used to partition separate wireless networks), has a static IP address, five McAfee security package licenses, unlimited download usage, 24x7 UK-based business support, and is connected free of charge. O2 will also provide 10 email addresses and 100 free web texts per month.

“We launched O2 Home Broadband six months ago with the intention of providing a quality service that would renew customer confidence in the broadband industry and are pleased to be delivering on this promise,” said Sally Cowdry, marketing director, O2 UK.
