PC help: Opening links in Firefox

How can I get links to open in Firefox?

Computeractive Staff, Computeract!ve 07 Dec 2006

Q My preferred browser is Firefox and I use Outlook Express for receiving emails. When I click on a link in an email I receive, the web page opens in Internet Explorer. Is there a way that I can get such links to open in Firefox instead?

A Open Firefox and click on the Tools menu, then Options. In the General tab, tick the box marked ‘Firefox should check to see whether it is the default browser when starting’. Click on the button marked Check Now and follow any prompts that appear. Click on OK to close the dialogue box. Now click on the Start button and click on Set Program Access and Defaults. Click on Custom and in the list that appears, make sure ‘Use my current web browser’ is ticked. Click on OK.

This will mean that any web links clicked anywhere in Windows, including Outlook Express, should open in Firefox rather than Internet Explorer.
