Audit bodies give public sector advice on value for money

Public sector managers can assess how well they spend their money on office systems

IT Week staff, IT Week 01 Jun 2007

A number of audit bodies have united behind a push to make sure that managers at public sector bodies are getting the best value from the IT, HR, and other key workplace facilities.

The groups, including the Audit Commission and the National Audit Office, worked together on the development of a suite of indicators for managers to use when analysing their finance, human resources, information technology, estates management and procurement.

A statement released to coincide with the launch of the tools said that these were "identified by the government as priority areas for increasing efficiency and releasing resources for use in delivering front-line service".

The indicators are available at the Audit office website.
