Autonomy has updated IDOL

New features should make searching easier, say Autonomy

David Neal, IT Week 26 Mar 2008

Autonomy has added new advanced features for its IDOL search platform for enterprises.

IDOL, or the Intelligent Data Operating Layer, is a pan-enterprise search platform, that can be used to search for all file types, and media formats across businesses.

"Despite standardisation efforts, information is scattered across the enterprise among different vendors' software, in different formats, and among numerous servers and laptops," said Mike Lynch, president of Autonomy announcing the updates, and promising an end to this document confusion.

New features include improved drag and drop personalisation tools, designed to make the system easier to use, and a number of technological additions to aid discovery, such as geo-cluster maps, and intent-based ranking.
