Almost half of the UK’s senior managers are unable to see the business benefits of Web 2.0 technology, according to new research.
Only 32 per cent of companies surveyed by IT services firm Parity are using Web 2.0 tools in their company, while 47 per cent said their management could see no benefit in doing so. Just under a third of IT managers admitted to having little understanding of the technology.
More than 55 per cent of respondents said that the biggest benefit of Web 2.0 was an increase in worker efficiency, while 52 per cent cited the ability to unite staff working at different locations.
Content and document management was regarded as the key driver behind Web 2.0 adoption for 44 per cent of those surveyed, while only 11 per cent mentioned the potential for collaborative work and streamlining systems.
