Marks & Spencer rings up till changes

Retailer is to replace all its tills by 2010

Written by Dave Friedlos

High-street retailer Marks & Spencer (M&S) has signed an agreement to replace its  tills with a next generation electronic point-of-sale (epos) system.

M&S is to install PCMS’s BeanStore system across all its shops and integrate it into existing head office programmes.

Developmentof the new system is already under way with testing scheduled to be finished by the end of the year.

Roll out and delivery across all its shops will be completed in 2010, says M &S IT director Darrell Stein.

‘The working relationship between the two organisations is one that has developed into a strong partnership and we are confident that we will deliver a market-leading solution,’ he said.

‘PCMS was chosen because of the rich functionality of its system.’

The system will further improve the customer experience at the till, says M &S head of retail operations Steve Finlan.
