Wholesale broadband consultation starts

Watchdog proposes different regulations for different regions depending on market conditions

Regulation of the wholesale broadband market could be pared down in areas of the country where competition is thriving, according to a consultation by watchdog Ofcom starting today.

The plans divide the country into four regions depending on the availability of non-BT infrastructure – such as the cable network - to allow regulations to be tailored to suit individual conditions.
