P&G's contract with BT will include the rollout of a global IP network

Procter & Gamble outsources IT network services

The £333m contract with BT will see the rollout of a global IP infrastructure

Written by Angelica Mari

Consumer goods manufacturer Procter & Gamble (P&G) has hired BT to provide IT support services in a deal valued at $650m (£333m).

The five-year agreement will see BT providing local and wide area network infrastructure to P&G across its operations worldwide and implementing a high-speed, IP-based global MPLS (multiprotocol label switching) infrastructure, designed to ensure compliance with policy, regulatory and security standards.

BT will also provide and manage perimeter security and firewall services to the group, as well as conferencing, remote access, voice and IP telephony services.

With the new services contract, P&G hopes to reduce costs and boost efficiency and visibility via a standardised and flexible infrastructure.

“We’re delighted to deliver and manage a broad portfolio of IT services that will serve P&G today and in the future," said François Barrault, chief executive of BT Global Services.
