Utilities group selects software to improve business critical systems

The UK's largest electricity supplier is upgrading

improving the management of software releases with system from application lifecyle specialist MKS.

Npower's upgrade will automate and enforce release management best practice for elements of key billing systems, using a step by step approach to rolling out software.

The improvements will produce a variety of benefits including financial savings, said Jim Relton, Head of Release Management at RWE Npower.

“The technology provides us with full traceability and auditability from initial request for change through to the deployment of that change into production," he said.

We expect that with this implementation to automate the deployment process we’ll have an opportunity to reduce costs, streamline processes and enhance our reporting and overall confidence."

Release management that helps preserve production systems when new software or hardware is rolled out.
