ViewSonic wants partners for Visual Solutions division

AV vendor’s new division to offer mobile and Wi-Fi products, but will focus on digital signage

Written by Laura Hailstone

Audiovisual (AV) vendor ViewSonic is looking for distributors and resellers for its new Visual Solutions division.

The unit, which was unveiled last month at the Integrated Systems Europe show, will offer mobile and Wi-Fi products, but will predominantly focus on digital signage.

Visual Solutions’ flagship product is a digital signage system that does not require an external PC. The 42in LCD ND4210w integrates with existing enterprise IP networks and allows users to store content on the display’s internal hard drive and manage content remotely.

Paul Farrow, business development manager at Visual Solutions, told CRN: “For existing digital signage installations, we also offer a set-top box, the NMP-500 Network Media Player. This allows existing displays to deliver all the benefits of the ND4210w network display.”

Headed up by Farrow, the division has signed up 20 VARs across Europe, five of which are in the UK.

“We’re after specialist distributors that already have a client base that do this type of technology,” Farrow said. “We’ll also go after specialist VARs directly in some countries. The key thing is that resellers are willing to develop solutions.”

Jack McGuigan, director at ViewSonic VAR Independent Products, said: “We’d be interested in the division’s products. The ND4210w sounds like it could open up digital signage to a wider market.”

Peter Unsworth, product manager at Sharp’s Commercial AV division, said: “We’ve still got the biggest LCD available at 65in and hope to increase our presence in digital signage.”
