NEC Display Solutions has introduced a new range of LCD monitors for offices and public display applications.

The new models will focus on key markets such as finance and publishing, where display quality and specialised features are desirable, the company said.

The MultiSync 90 series consists of 19in, 20in and 21in screens designed to provide greater colour fidelity and wider viewing angles than standard desktop monitors such as NEC's own 70 series.

"The 90 series are a little bit specialist – they're part of our new strategy to target [particular] segments," said NEC sales director Simon Jackson. These segments include professionals working with colour reproduction; medical applications; trading floors in the finance market; transport; and digital signage in retail environments.

The 20in LCD2090 model can display a wide colour spectrum and boasts a range of colour calibration tools, Jackson added.

For trading floors, the 90 series offer thin bezels to help cram more displays together, and NEC's IPS screen technology offers a wide viewing angle. "If you are a trader using three to six screens, you want the colour on each to look the same when viewed from all angles," said Jackson.

Within each market segment, NEC is teaming up with partners to offer complete solutions. These partners include keyboard, video and mouse (KVM) switch provider U-Touch, a specialist in touchscreen technology.

Working with U-Touch, NEC has already created interactive display systems for the retail market, according to Jackson.

The MultiSync 90 series comprises the LCD1990FX for the finance market; the LCD1990SXi, the LCD2990; and the LCD2190. Prices start at about £350 for the 19in LCD1990FX, which is due in May.
