CA has launched three new mainframe identity and access management products for the z/OS environment to help firms demonstrate compliance with regulations and make it easier to manage users’ access rights.

The new eTrust CA-ACF2 Security r9 and CA-Top Secret Security r9 tools provide additional auditing capabilities and support for longer passwords, which makes it easier to move towards "a consistent set of password standards", according to CA's director of security strategy Mike Small.

The products have also been upgraded to ensure they interoperate with the latest version of IBM's z/OS 1.7, and their integration with CA's portfolio of IAM systems can reduce firms’ IT costs and improve efficiency, said CA.

"Many of our large customers are still dependent on the mainframe and managing access is key," said Small. "So we've updated various components to…make it easier to demonstrate compliance and to make them more aligned with other environments."

The eTrust Cleanup 2.2 tool, which is also engineered for the z/OS environment, helps administrators remove any unused security access rights on the mainframe, thus improving performance and security, Small added.
