Written by IT Week staff

Toshiba has released a range of external USB hard drives, offering added security and boosted safety features, the firm said.

Released this week by Toshiba’s Computer Systems Division the disks are available in three different capacities: 160GB, 250GB and 320GB. This selection will be added to later in the year when Toshiba releases 400GB and 500GB models.

Toshiba said that the devices would suit both home and business users, boast a slim design and include software that can encrypt all of the stored files for security purposes.

In a statement Steve Crawley, head of mobile strategy at Toshiba’s Computer Systems Division, said, “As businesses and consumers increasingly choose to back up their digital data through removable storage it is ever more important that robust security measures are put in place to protect data from misuse or loss.”
