iWay upgrades to underpin BI platforms

iWay Software has unveiled updates to two of its integration suites designed to simplify administration

Data integration specialist iWay Software has unveiled updates to two of its integration suites designed to simplify administration and better underpin firms' business intelligence (BI) capabilities.

The company, which is a subsidiary of BI software specialist Information Builders, said the two new products aimed to help firms develop a unified data architecture that ensures that the data reported on by their BI tools is accurate and up to date.
DataMigrator 7.1 provides extract, transport and load (ETL) functionality for transporting data between multiple sources and into data warehouses. Dave Armstrong, business development director at Information Builders, said the new version also features enhanced metadata management designed to help ensure data accuracy and greater reliance on graphical interfaces for developing data flows.

"The aim is to reduce complexity so a lower skilled administrator can start to manage data integration," he added. "It also means it is easier to visually align data flows with business processes."

Service Manager 5.5, meanwhile, offers enhanced graphical user interfaces and a new web console as part of a suite designed to integrate data as part of service oriented architecture (SOA) projects.

Armstrong said that the two suites provided firms with flexible integration capabilities that would allow them to "select the best data architecture for their BI needs", regardless of whether they were using traditional data warehousing, real-time reporting tools or a range of different BI technologies.

"The impact of integration on the quality of BI deployments is huge," he argued. "The value of BI boils down to whether or not you have well-managed architecture that delivers accurate data."
