Email and internet security specialist Marshal has launched a new solution designed to help firms mitigate the risk of data loss via removable media devices.

Marshal Endpoint Security, based on technology from endpoint security specialist Centennial Software, allows IT administrators to lock down and monitor devices at the edge of the network, complementing content filtering security solutions.

"A lot of our customers have been concerned about endpoint security for the past year because security is changing now," said Marshal's chief executive, Ed McNair. "We're folding Centennial's product into the Marshal fold – and all our products have the same policy engine, so we can provide the same level of content control to the endpoint."

Marshal Endpoint Security allows firms to enforce policy down to the individual or group level to monitor activity at the endpoint and avoid data leakage or theft, according to McNair.

"For too long the security industry has made the gateway issue the focus of attention," said Centennial chief executive Andy Burton. "Marshal is leading the field in bringing endpoint and transaction security together."
