Recommind tackles email management

Decisiv Email set to offer greater collaboration, security and mailbox organisation

Written by Phil Muncaster

Enterprise search specialist Recommind will next week launch a new email management tool designed to help firms' compliance efforts and boost user productivity and collaboration.

Decisiv Email uses the firm's categorisation and conceptual search technology to tag and organize, and file email messages and attachments with minimal user involvement, according to Recommind's vice president of marketing Craig Carpenter.

The technology will categorise and deal with emails it knows, based on the content and the sender and receiver, and offer suggestions for those it cannot determine, he added.

"The benefits from the user point of view is mailbox organisation and from an admin side, the records are fully auditable – you know exactly where to find the records relating to x, y and z," explained Carpenter.

The technology can be used to good effect for eDiscovery tasks, and offers collaborative capabilities for end users, as all folders can be shared, but only viewed by those chosen by the user.

"This is not a product to roll out to all 20,000 employees," he said. "We intend it for certain people who particularly need it, like the accounting team or executive staff – those whose information is particularly exposed and/or need a high level of collaboration."
