LogMeIn is to release an updated version of its popular remote access service. The new version adds an improved user interface and other features designed to make the user experience seem as close as possible to actually sitting at the remote system, the company said.

Available from the end of September, the new LogMeIn has three major enhancements; a re-designed user interface to simplify access, the ability to drag-and-drop files between the local and remote desktops, and sounds played on the remote system can be heard locally.

While LogMeIn already has a File Manager to transfer files between the local and host systems, drag-and-drop is quicker and easier, said LogMeIn vice president of Digital Living Kevin Farrell.

Once available, LogMeIn Pro subscribers will be able to upgrade with all the new features. Users of the free-to-use LogMeIn Free service will only see the new user interface, but the company is offering LogMeIn Pro subscriptions with a 40 percent discount between now and the end of September.
