Tool mobilises HP suite

Vettro announces support for service management software from HP

Written by Daniel Robinson

Enterprise mobility firm Vettro has announced support for HP’s new Service Manager 7.0 software in its Vettro 360 for IT Service Management (ITSM) application. The move is designed to let IT departments become more responsive and improve compliance with Itil standards, the firm said.

Vettro’s ITSM, one of the vendor’s five key mobile applications, already links with systems such as BMC Remedy and HP’s OpenView Service Center. The vendor claims to be one of the first with support for Service Manager 7.0, which HP made available in December.

“Service Manager 7.0 is HP’s flagship IT service management platform, and will help IT departments provide better service to internal customers,” said Vettro’s European vice president, Howard Finnegan.

HP Service Manager 7.0 has been designed around compliance with newer Itil standards, which will help companies do more with fewer resources. Having mobile access to this system will also help companies become more responsive, according to Vettro.

“More employees are becoming mobile, and a lot of senior executives are involved in change processes. They can be difficult to contact, because they are often travelling, and this can hold up progress on a project if their approval is needed,” Finnegan explained.

Vettro’s core 360 platform runs on Windows Mobile and BlackBerry devices, plus handsets with J2ME Java support. A port for Symbian handsets is planned for the future.
