O2 creates mobile business aid unit

Spanish owned O2 is aiming to make it easier for businesses to adopt mobile technologies

Written by David Neal

Mobile phone firm O2 has created a new professional services team that businesses can work with when setting up bespoke mobile solutions. The firm said that its team of experts would help businesses get the most out of the rapidly evolving area of mobile technology.

O2 Professional Services will work with businesses across four areas. In initial stages of a business relationship the firm offers an Exploration and recommendation service. O2 said that this would investigate the customers' industry and any relevant trends before making recommendations for a suitable mobile solution.

Then, during the Proving process a managed and supported technical trial is carried out. This is used to demonstrate and test the system prior to rollout or implementation. During this process any likely problems should be identified and removed.

If the system is stable the next stage is Deployment, where O2 assigns project managers to the customer. These then provide end user trainer and customisation. Finally, customers can choose to have their solutions managed remotely by O2.

O2 said that the team is staffed by people expert in mobile technologies, and were certified with Prince project management, Cisco, Microsoft, Lotus, SQL and government information assurance.
