Shavlik launches 'Any Patch Anywhere' technology

Security firm Shavlik has launched a new version of its patch management system

Written by Dave Bailey

Security vendor Shavlik Technologies has launched version 6.0 of its NetChk Protect package, a patch management system which incorporates new technology able to "patch virtually any Windows application on your network," according to Shavlik chief executive, Mark Shavlik.

Shavlik said that the new system, called Any Patch Anywhere uses a wizard-like custom patch editor and Shavlik's Dynamic Product Detection scan engine technology, "To create and maintain custom patches".

Another new feature is the new network-based viewer console which Shavlik say allows IT managers to look at security status, similar to the way they view and manage their networks.

Shavlik said that the firm had also given administrators greater control in managing system policies which gives IT experts better control over how systems were rebooted to avoid service disruption.
