F5 teams with WhiteHat for automatic online security

E-commerce security boost for firms

Written by Phil Muncaster

WhiteHat Security and networking vendor F5 have announced a new tie-up designed to offer firms a web-based service which will identify and repair vulnerabilities to their web sites.

The solution incorporates WhiteHat Sentinel scanning technology with F5's application security manager (ASM) firewall product to give customers the ability to directly configure policies to protect against vulnerabilities found during scanning, according to F5's security specialist, Bill Beverley.

"Firms need to deploy their security requirements quickly and with a high degree of confidence," he added. "Many of the drivers these days are compliance to regulations like PCI."

Firms will also benefit from ASM's virtual patching capabilities and one-click remediation functionality, according to F5.
