Atempo updates archiving tools

Archiving tools get de-duplication, indexing and search upgrades

Written by IT Week Staff

Archiving firm Atempo is readying the next version of its file archiving software, which it promises will simplify the process of long-term data retention.

Atempo Digital Archive (ADA) 2.0 includes new features such as file de-duplication, full content indexing and enhanced search capabilities.

De-duplication technology ensures that multiple copies of the same file are not archived, thereby reducing the storage requirements.

The indexing and search capabilities improve users' ability to find files when needed. The search function is increasingly important part of e-discovery – for firms involved in litigation, the ability to locate all relevant documents is crucial.

"ADA is specifically designed to meet the real-world retention needs of data-intensive organizations," said Karim Toubba, vice president of
marketing at Atempo in a statement.

ADA 2.0 will ship on 15 April, and can be used for Windows, Mac, Linux and Unix environments.
