VKernel eliminates virtual bottlenecks

New tools for optimising virtual infrastructures

Written by Daniel Robinson

VKernel Corporation has introduced a tool to analyse VMware-based virtual infrastructure and identify possible bottlenecks, with the aim of improving datacentre efficiency.

The Capacity Bottleneck Analyzer, available immediately, identifies bottleneck issues in VMware ESX environments that might otherwise prove difficult to pinpoint or even go unnoticed, according to the firm.

“The real challenge for IT staff is finding a solution that helps them identify capacity bottlenecks without wasting countless man-hours sifting through hundreds of management reports," said VKernel chief executive Alex Bakman.

The tool continuously monitors processor, memory, and storage utilisation trends across hosts, clusters, and resource pools, and feeds this information into a single management dashboard. Alerts can also be sent to administrators via email or SMS if specific threshold conditions are reached.

Using the Capacity Bottleneck Analyzer enables firms to plan ahead to avoid potential future bottlenecks, according to VKernel. Pricing starts at $199 (£100) per processor socket, with a full 14-day trial version also available.
