e-Skills UK, the government licensed not-for-profit organisation charged with boosting UK skills, has announced plans for a new five year plan and started asking for input in the areas of IT and telecoms.
e-Skills' consultation is focused on five areas - including making the industry more attractive and improving education, and as a body it is looking for a plan that is approved and accepted by the industry as a whole. As such it will seek to poll employers, educationalists, and other relevant parties.
Karen Price, chief executive at the group said, “Our job is to unite employers, educators and government to ensure the UK has the technology-related skills it needs to compete in the global economy. Effective partnerships are central to achieving this, and we value input from everyone with insight and views on the subject.
This will help us to create a strategic plan which has widespread support and can make the biggest impact on UK productivity and competitiveness."
The consultation will run until Friday, 27 June 2008.
