QlikTech and Kalido team up

Vendors are to combine their expertise to deliver a more responsive business intelligence platform

Written by Rosalie Marshall

In-memory business intelligence specialist QlikTech has announced plans to integrate its technology more tightly with that of information management solutions firm Kalido.

“QlikTech customers were asking for tighter integration. They want to be able to access information from the front end on what is happening in the information management warehouse,” said Kalido chief executive Bill Hewitt, adding, “Now, end-users can get answers to questions rather than just reports.”

An out-of-the-box solution combining QlikTech’s QlikView BI solution with Kalido’s information engine will be available to purchase by the end of September, Hewitt said. Alternatively, customers can obtain an integrated solution from the firms today, but this will involve architects integrating the products on-site.

Although Kalido works with a number of BI firms, Hewitt said it inked the deal with QlikTech because of the latter’s impressive association and modelling tools, as well as its “intuitive end-user interface”. Also its in-memory capabilities will ensure end users are provided with direct answers to queries, said Hewitt.

The latest BI market figures from Gartner show that out of all the BI players, QlikTech has experienced the biggest increase in market share if acquisitions are not taken into account. Hewitt suggested that because of the firm’s rapid growth, it was left unprepared for data management demands made by large enterprises. “So they looked at the Kalido model and there is a very natural synergy there,” he said.
