Borland simplifies control of multiple coding projects

New tools promise to end software development delays

Written by Dave Bailey

Borland has unveiled a new suite of tools that it said can help firms to meet their software development targets.

The new Borland Management Solutions (BMS) suite is designed to let firms manage all the software projects across their entire portfolio simultaneously, said Borland product marketing vice president Andy Seager.

BMS comprises three products: TeamDemand, TeamFocus and TeamAnalytics.
TeamDemand is a project performance management tool that aims to make it easier for firms to plan the allocation of staff and resources across a range of projects.
TeamFocus was initially released last year to help software development teams using so-called agile software development processes.

“TeamFocus has been enhanced with the ability to aggregate data from software projects with different delivery mechanisms, such as standard iterative or waterfall mechanisms,” said Seager.

TeamAnalytics automatically harvests, collates and stores data throughout a project’s lifecycle, using a purpose-built application lifecycle management (ALM) schema. “Historic data can be trended to look across all projects, which should help firms forecast software costs and plan project portfolios better,” said Seager.

An ALM server ties all three products in BMS together, allowing firms to link activities, assets and people across all software projects.
